Dr. Lawrence L. Sutter - Associate Professor
Dr. Sutter is a Professor at Michigan Tech University Transportation Institute. He has an extensive background in materials characterization and has done research on the characterization of construction materials including concrete and asphalt. He is currently involved in a number of projects for the Michigan Department of Transportation, the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and the National Science Foundation investigating concrete pavement durability and performance. Dr. Sutter completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Michigan Tech. His dissertation subject was the identification of materials related distress in Portland Cement concrete pavements. He is co-director of the University's Non-Conductive/Volatile Materials Characterization Facility, which includes a complete petrography lab, environmental scanning electron microscope, and newly developed x-ray microscope. He is an Officer of the International Cement Microscopy Association and an ACI Concrete Technician Examiner, and very active in the ASTM organization. |
