Hooked Rebar Anchorage  Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Testing

Hooked Rebar Anchorage

Current project

Work is being done to evaluate the anchorage strength of hooked bars fabricated using two different epoxy-coating application processes. Results will show whether the current ACI 318 provisions are adequate for ensuring development length of epoxy coated hooked bars independent of the coating application method. If predictable bond behavior can be demonstrated, including strength and failure mode, current ACI 318 provisions can be reaffirmed. If not, recommendations will be suggested to reflect the findings.

Several exploratory batches of concrete have been made using locally available glacial gravel and sand. Mix designs have been found which produce average results at the target strengths. Batches have also been made in order to produce a self consolidating concrete for use in this research. More information on this project can be obtained by contacting Paul Koning using the contact form.
